MAINTENANCE WORKER I


Pay Grade: 107                                                                    Department - Parks & Rec
Exempt: No                                                                          Reports to: Foreman

Hours: 40 per week                                                              Date: December, 2017

 

SUMMARY: This position performs a variety of semi-skilled manual tasks under direct supervision of a foreman, lead worker, or other higher level classified employees. Duties may involve the use of hand and power tools and the operation of light truck and construction equipment as a part of the assignment. Duties may be performed under adverse weather or working conditions. Ideal candidate will have irrigation and tree trim/grounds cleanup experience.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Possesses a valid Florida Drivers License.
  • Performs duties such as yard maintenance. (cutting grass, edging, weeding, laying sod, spreading grass seed, fertilizing)
  • Other duties include: unskilled painting, cleaning and patching potholes, removing dirt and grease from vehicles, assisting in concrete work, spraying for insects, changing tires, servicing automotive equipment, cleaning ditches, and digging excavations.

 

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and /or abilities required. EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:  The individual must be in good physical condition and have ability to accept and understand directions. Individual must have a high school diploma or GED from a credentialed educational system.


OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Ability to read and write.
  • Ability to work independently in a diligent manner.
  • Knowledge of simple hand and power tools.

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT/ADA: This job requires walking, standing, pushing, bending, stooping, equipment operation and driving. The employee may work in an office environment or outside in various weather conditions. Working in or with moving vehicles and/or equipment may be required as well as working from heights, in dusty condition, with hands, feet, and/or legs in water and may handle chemicals.
 

Lifting: 45 Pounds or more

Environment: Maintenance Work

Vision: 20/20 or Corrected to 20/100

Hearing: Normal Noise Levels for Office Environment
