Janitor/Custodian
Pay Grade: 107 Dept: Utilities
Exempt: No Reports to: Utilities Coordinator
Hours: 40 per week Date: February, 2021
SUMMARY: This position performs a variety of cleaning and housekeeping tasks under general supervision of a Utilities Coordinator, foreman, lead worker, or other higher level classified employees. Duties may involve the use of hand and power cleaning tools and the operation of a light truck as a part of the assignment. Duties will be performed mainly after regular office hours in the evening.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Performs routine custodial work and minor repairs

Performs duties such as, vacuuming, dusting, and mopping.

Ability to clean restrooms, including floors, walls, toilets, sinks and other fixtures and items found within restrooms.

Interior / Exterior window cleaning.

Empty and maintain trash collection cans and recycle totters

Ability to clean other fixtures such as lights, water fountains, and sinks

Ability to work off of a small ladder or reach to clean overhead lights and book shelves

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: Some experience in custodial/janitorial work is preferable in work which involves custodial/janitorial hand and power tools. High school graduation or GED is required but a comparable amount of education, training, or experience may be substituted for minimum requirements.

Knowledge of simple hand and power cleaning tools
- ENVIRONMENT/ADA: This job requires walking, standing, pushing, bending, stooping, cleaning equipment operation and driving short distances. The employee will usually work in an office environment and may work outside in various weather conditions. Working from heights, in dusty conditions, with hands, feet, and/or legs and will handle chemicals.

Vision: 20/20 or Corrected to 20/100
Hearing: Normal Noise Levels for Office Environment
