STORMWATER TECHNICIAN I

Department: 450/Stormwater                                                                                               Exempt: No

Reports To: Stormwater Foreman                                                                                        Pay Grade/Wage: 112

Position Type: Full-Time                                                                                                     Hours: 40 hrs/week

 

Job Summary:

This position is primarily responsible for operating street sweeping and CCTV inspection equipment for the City stormwater network. Also, must perform a variety of semi-skilled manual tasks under direct supervision of a foreman, lead worker, or other higher-level classified employees. Duties may involve the use of hand and power tools and the operation of light to heavy trucks and construction equipment as a part of the assignment. Duties may be performed under adverse weather or working conditions.

Job Description:

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Able to operate equipment designed to video and inspect underground stormwater network.
  • Must be able to operate equipment designed to clean and maintain streets and curb lines.
  • Assist other Stormwater crews as needed.
  • Able to perform shift work as assigned.

  • Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • High school or general education degree (GED) from an accredited institution is required.

  • Good physical condition is essential.

  • Ability to accept and understand directions.

  • An equivalent combination of education, experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities may be considered for minimum requirements.

LICENSES AND SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Possess and maintain a valid Florida Commercial driver's license B (CDL Class B) with an acceptable driving record is required.

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a TTC intermediate certification.

  • Must be First Aid and CPR/AED certified or get certified within one (1) year of hire.

  • After probation must be available for on-call work as required

LANGUAGE SKILLS

  • Ability to clearly and effectively communicate both verbally and in writing.

  • Ability to read and write neatly.

  • Ability to deal with the general public in a professional, courteous manner.

  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees and the public.

     

REASONING ABILITY

  • Ability to follow and apply common sense understanding, to carry out instructions furnished in written and oral form.

  • Ability to read and comprehend safety manuals, work orders, and operation guides.

 

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Knowledge of simple hand and power tools.

  • Ability to learn streets and facility locations.

  • Ability to work independently in a diligent manner.
  • Ability to fill out reports and work orders with good penmanship.

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT/ADA: This job requires walking, standing, pushing, bending, stooping, equipment operation and driving. The employee may work in an office environment or outside in various weather conditions. Working in or with moving vehicles and/or equipment may be required as well as working from heights, in dusty condition, with hands, feet, and/or legs in water and may handle chemicals.
