Position Type: Temporary/Part Time – 11 Month Contract             Hours:, 20 hrs/week

 

Job Summary:

The purpose of this position is to monitor Contractor’s work for City’s new Fire Station # 81 and Police Evidence Building project to facilitate construction according to approved plans and specifications.

Job Description:

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Serve as City’s Project Manager liaison with Contractor, Project Architect and material testing firms.
  • Monitor construction for compliance with approved plans, specifications and shop drawings.
  • Monitor site and building construction work to ensure compliance with approved plans and specifications.
  • Report to City’s Project Manager whenever any work is unsatisfactory, faulty or defective or does not conform to the Contract Documents, or has been damaged, or does not meet the requirements of any inspection, test or approval required to be made.
  • Furnish City’s Project Manager periodic reports as required of progress of the work and of Contractor’s compliance with the progress schedule.
  • Review Contractor pay applications to confirm that the percentage of work completed, measurement of unit priced work in place, and verification of material in storage are accurate.
  • Prepare a daily report or keep a daily diary that records weather conditions, the contractor’s daily work activities, and specific observations.
  • Attend meetings such as progress and other project related meetings.
  • Participate in substantial and final completion inspections.
  • Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • High school or general education degree (GED) from an accredited institution is required.

  • Five (5) years of experience as a resident project representative in charge of monitoring building and site construction is required.

  • An equivalent combination of education, experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities may be considered for minimum requirements.

     

LICENSES AND SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Possess and maintain a valid Florida driver's license with an acceptable driving record is required.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

  • Ability to clearly and effectively communicate both verbally and in writing.

  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with City employees, City officials, other agency officials, and the general public.

REASONING ABILITY

  • Ability to follow and to carry out complex instructions furnished in written and oral form.

  • Ability to make mathematical computations and shop math (addition, subtraction, division, multiplication, fractions).

  • Ability to read and comprehend safety manuals, work orders, operation guides, blueprints, specifications, schematics, financial reports, legal documents, instructions, letters, memos, journals, and maps and other documents relative to public works construction projects.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Considerable knowledge of building and site construction practices and methods.

  • Ability to use common computer programs such as Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.

  • Knowledge of the Florida Building Code, Ordinance, codes, laws and environmental standards in relation to regulatory compliance.

     

WORK ENVIRONMENT/ADA: This job requires walking, standing, bending, stooping, driving, finger dexterity, and depth perception. The employee will work outside in various weather conditions, from heights, on uneven surfaces, or with radiant energy.
