MAINTENANCE WORKER I

Department:     150/Chisholm Center                           Exempt:    No

Reports To:      Chisholm Center Director                    Pay Wage:  $16.00 Hourly

Position Type:  Part-Time                                             Hours:  29 hrs/week MAX

 

Job Summary:

This position performs a variety of semi-skilled manual tasks under general supervision of a foreman, lead worker, or other higher-level classified employees.  Duties involve upkeep of the green space as well as pool maintenance.  Duties may be performed under adverse weather or working conditions.

Job Description:

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Performs routine custodial work and does minor repairs.
  • Performs a variety of other related tasks.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) from an U.S. Department of Education accredited institution is preferred.
  • An equivalent combination of education, experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities may be considered for minimum requirements except for licensure/certification requirements.

LICENSES AND SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Possess and maintain a valid Florida driver's license with an acceptable driving record is required.
  • Must be First Aid and CPR/AED certified or get certified within six (6) months of hire.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

  • Ability to communicate verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to read and write.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees and the public.
  • Ability to develop and maintain good personal relationship with other employees and the public.

REASONING ABILITY                            

  • Ability to follow and apply common sense understanding, to carry out instructions furnished in written and oral form.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Ability to work independently and in a diligent manner.
  • Ability to use various hand and power tools related to the job.
  • Knowledge of simple hand and power tools.
  • Good physical condition is essential.

WORK ENVIRONMENT/ADAThis job requires walking, standing, pushing, bending, stooping, equipment operation and driving.  The employee may work in an office environment or outside in various weather conditions.  Working in or with moving vehicles and/or equipment may be required as well as working from heights, in dusty condition, with hands, feet, and/or legs in water and may handle chemicals.

Lifting:  Lift up to 45 Pounds

Vision:  20/20 or Corrected to 20/100

Environment:  Office Work and Outside Work in Various Conditions

Hearing:  Normal Noise Levels for Work Environment
